CHAPTER-1 SEXUAL REPRODUCATION IN FLOWERING PLANTS.
Q. 12 Why do you think the zygote is dormant for some time in a
fertilized ovule?
Answer:
• The fusion of male gamete and nucleus of the egg cell leads to
formation of zygote.
• The zygote remains dormant for some time until certain amount of
endosperm forms.
• It happens because endosperm provides nutrition to the developing
embryo.
• After the formation of the endosperm, the further development of
embryo from zygote happens.
